Ardian, a prominent private investment firm, has finalized the acquisition of TIM's remaining 10% stake in Daphne 3, thereby securing full ownership of a 30.8% stake in INWIT, Italy's leading tower operator. This acquisition, executed through Impulse I, marks a significant step in Ardian's long-term investment strategy.
Since its initial investment in 2020, Ardian has committed over €2.7 billion to INWIT, making it the company's second-largest shareholder. This latest transaction reinforces Ardian's role as a strategic partner in INWIT's growth and development.
INWIT is crucial to Italy's digital transformation, providing essential infrastructure for modern telecommunications, including 5G networks. The company’s towers are vital for enhancing Italy's digital capabilities, offering innovative solutions to meet the increasing demand for high-quality network services.
As part of this deal, the existing shareholders’ agreement between TIM and Impulse I has been dissolved, with the transaction valuing INWIT shares at €10.43 each. Following the cancellation of INWIT shares on November 15, 2024, Daphne 3 now holds a stake equivalent to 30.8% of INWIT’s total share capital.
Rosario Mazza, Senior Managing Director and Head of Infrastructure Italy at Ardian, emphasized that this acquisition is a pivotal milestone in their partnership with INWIT. He expressed enthusiasm for collaborating closely with INWIT’s management and strategic partners to leverage growth opportunities and enhance Italy's digital infrastructure, particularly through the expansion of 5G networks.
Ardian manages or advises on $176 billion in assets for over 1,720 clients worldwide. The firm specializes in various investment sectors, including Private Equity, Real Assets, and Credit, allowing it to offer tailored investment solutions. Ardian is committed to responsible investment practices and aims to create lasting value in the companies it supports.
In summary, Ardian's acquisition of TIM's stake in Daphne 3 not only solidifies its position as a major player in INWIT but also underscores its commitment to driving Italy's digital evolution through strategic investments in telecommunications infrastructure.
