Bain Capital has announced a majority investment in Milacron's Injection Moulding and Extrusion business, acquiring approximately 51% ownership for $287 million. Hillenbrand, Inc. will retain a significant 49% stake and will collaborate with Bain Capital to enhance the growth of Milacron, a leader in engineered plastics processing equipment and services.

The investment comes from Bain Capital’s Special Situations team, following the successful closing of its second vintage of funds, which raised over $9 billion. Matt Evans, a Partner at Bain Capital, emphasized Milacron's legacy of innovation in plastics and the potential for growth as U.S. manufacturers focus on supply-chain resilience and domestic production.

Chris Sun, a Principal at Bain Capital, expressed enthusiasm about partnering with Milacron's President, Mac Jones, and the team to support the company's growth. He highlighted Milacron's advanced engineering and manufacturing capabilities, which are crucial for producing essential products globally.

Hillenbrand President & CEO Kim Ryan noted that the partnership with Bain Capital would position Milacron for future success. She believes Bain's proven track record and resources will drive growth for Milacron and benefit Hillenbrand's shareholders.

The deal is expected to close at the end of Milacron’s fiscal second quarter or the beginning of the third. Deutsche Bank is acting as the exclusive financial advisor, while Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP is serving as Bain Capital’s legal advisor.

The company is recognized as a market leader across various sectors, including automotive, construction, consumer goods, medical, and packaging, and offers comprehensive aftermarket support.
