BGF Invests in BWP Group, a Marketing Agency
National law firm Freeths has advised the shareholders of BWP Group on its recent investment from BGF. BWP, based in Marlow, is a marketing and brand agency known for enhancing destination assets like shopping centers and leisure venues. Since its founding in 1995, BWP has built a strong portfolio, partnering with notable destinations such as the Trafford Centre and IKEA.
BGF, established in 2011, specializes in providing venture capital to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the UK and Ireland. With a mission to address the funding gap for SMEs, BGF supports businesses at various growth stages across multiple sectors, backed by a substantial £3 billion balance sheet.
This investment represents a significant opportunity for BWP Group, enabling it to accelerate growth and enhance its influence in the destination marketing sector. The funding will help BWP expand its geographical reach, strengthen client relationships in the UK and Europe, and explore entry into the US market. Additionally, BWP plans to pursue targeted acquisitions to solidify its position as a leading agency in high-impact marketing services.
The Freeths team leading this transaction included Partner Dahren Naidoo and Managing Associate Megan Atack, with support from Partner Laura Tracey, Managing Associate Alex Angelides, Associate Elle Margerison, and Legal Assistant Madelaine Gape.
Megan Atack expressed enthusiasm about the deal, stating that it allows BWP to explore international opportunities and continue its growth strategy. She highlighted the firm's strength in private equity capabilities and expressed hope for future collaborations with BWP.
