Boxphish Acquires Dark Web Threat Intelligence Service Trillion

3 December 2024
Insider Media Ltd

Boxphish, a human risk management platform based in Leeds, has acquired Trillion, a dark web threat intelligence service that monitors leaked credentials. Founded in 2020 by Henry Doyle, Dan Bailey, and CEO Nick Deacon Elliott, Boxphish has developed a strong customer base and offers a variety of training courses tailored to different organizations.

The acquisition of Trillion enhances Boxphish's product offerings, which already include cybersecurity training, customizable phishing simulations, and data analytics. This move is part of Boxphish's strategy to provide comprehensive solutions that help organizations mitigate risks associated with cyber threats.

In April, BGF invested £3.25 million in Boxphish to support its growth and product development. This funding has enabled the company to expand its capabilities and better serve its clients in an increasingly complex cyber threat landscape.

Nick Deacon Elliott emphasized the significance of this acquisition, stating that it allows Boxphish to enhance visibility around human risk. By monitoring billions of credentials on dark markets, the company can identify risks and alert users to take necessary actions. He noted a strong demand for dark web monitoring alongside their existing cybersecurity training services.

Stuart Jubb, CEO of Crossword, the previous owner of Trillion, expressed satisfaction with the acquisition, highlighting that Trillion's existing customers, including Leeds United FC and New College Worcester, will continue to receive uninterrupted service. He also pointed out that Boxphish's strong financial backing ensures long-term security for Trillion's clients.

The deal was facilitated by Walker Morris for Boxphish and Knights Corporate Finance for Crossword. This acquisition marks a significant step for Boxphish as it continues to evolve and adapt to the needs of its customers in the cybersecurity space.
