CD&R has announced the appointment of Sam Camens as Managing Director, effective February 5, 2025. In this role, Camens will lead the firm’s health and welfare strategy, focusing on due diligence, investment activities, and enhancing employee benefits programs for portfolio companies.

Camens joins CD&R from Onex, where he was Managing Director of Insurance & Benefits. His experience includes advising on insurance and employee benefits management. He also held a Managing Director position at Alterity Group, where he facilitated corporate integrations and strategic carve-outs for private equity firms and consulted in the healthcare and insurance sectors.

CD&R Partner Orla Beggs praised Camens for his leadership in employer health insurance, expressing confidence that his expertise will greatly benefit the firm’s investment and operating teams, as well as the management of portfolio businesses.

Camens expressed enthusiasm for joining CD&R, highlighting the firm’s commitment to partnership and operational excellence. He aims to collaborate with CD&R’s Financial Services and Healthcare verticals to identify new investment opportunities and drive growth.

His career began at Willis Towers Watson, where he worked in Corporate Strategy & Development and Health & Benefits. Camens has also served on the board of OneDigital and currently sits on the board of the Youth Renewal Fund. He holds dual degrees in Mathematics and Economics from Bucknell University.
