CVC Capital Partners is reportedly exploring the acquisition of Vivendi’s stake in Telecom Italia, which could lead to a potential takeover of the Italian telecommunications firm. Bloomberg News highlighted that CVC has initiated preliminary discussions with Vivendi regarding this stake purchase.

Vivendi currently holds the largest share in Telecom Italia, owning approximately 23.75% of the company, which is valued at around $1 billion. Following the news of CVC's interest, shares of Telecom Italia experienced a significant increase, rising over 6% to 0.2759 euros ($0.2898).

There are indications that CVC may aim for a full takeover of Telecom Italia, with plans to possibly restructure the business. However, neither Vivendi, CVC, nor Telecom Italia has provided comments on the situation.

This potential acquisition reflects ongoing interest in the telecommunications sector, particularly in Europe, where private equity firms are increasingly targeting established companies for investment opportunities.
