EQT Private Capital Asia has successfully acquired PropertyGuru Group Limited, a leading property technology company in Southeast Asia, for approximately US$1.1 billion. This acquisition, finalized in August, has resulted in PropertyGuru being delisted from the New York Stock Exchange, transitioning it to a privately held entity.

The investment from EQT aims to enhance PropertyGuru's technology development, expand its market reach, and improve operational efficiency. EQT's involvement is expected to bolster PropertyGuru's position in the competitive property technology sector, driving future growth.

PropertyGuru is recognized for its comprehensive real estate listings, mortgage solutions, and enterprise client services. EQT has a history of collaborating with companies in the digital marketplace and real estate sectors, including Idealista and Casa.it.

Hari Krishnan, CEO of PropertyGuru, expressed gratitude for the support from previous shareholders, including TPG and KKR, and welcomed EQT as a new partner. He emphasized the importance of their collective efforts in achieving sustainable growth and delivering a solid financial exit for long-term investors.

Janice Leow, a partner at EQT, highlighted PropertyGuru's innovative role in the Southeast Asian property technology landscape. She noted that EQT's expertise in technology-driven businesses will help PropertyGuru explore new opportunities and enhance its offerings, contributing to the evolution of the property market in the region.

In addition to the acquisition news, the article promotes the upcoming ‘What’s NEXT in Marketing 2025’ series, which will take place in Singapore, the Philippines, and Hong Kong. The Hong Kong event, scheduled for April 24, 2025, aims to provide a platform for marketers and industry leaders to discuss future marketing strategies.

The article also touches on the challenges faced by traditional advertising in a saturated media landscape. It suggests that user-generated content (UGC) can serve as an authentic alternative, fostering trust and community engagement. A three-step UGC strategy—listening, engaging, and loyalty-building—is proposed to help brands connect meaningfully with audiences in a fragmented digital environment.

Overall, the acquisition of PropertyGuru by EQT signifies a strategic move to enhance the company's capabilities and market presence, while the marketing events aim to equip industry professionals with insights for future success.
