LMF Energy Services, a UK-based installer of renewable energy solutions, has received a significant investment from Soho Square Capital. Founded in 2016, LMF has successfully completed over 20,000 energy efficiency installations, helping numerous households escape fuel poverty. The company operates from its headquarters in Birkenhead, with additional locations in Prenton, Wirral, and Launceston, Cornwall.
The new funding will enable LMF to accelerate its growth strategy, expanding its private solar installation services and enhancing its commercial and social housing offerings. Soho Square will also assist in refining LMF's operational structure and management, with Stephen Edwards from Soho Square joining LMF's board.
Chris Foran, LMF's managing director, expressed pride in the company's achievements and excitement about the partnership with Soho Square. He noted that the investment structure allows LMF to maintain control while benefiting from additional capital and expertise to further its growth ambitions.
Joe Tebbutt, a principal at Soho Square Capital, highlighted LMF's rapid establishment as a leading player in the energy efficiency sector, emphasizing the market's growth potential due to the high number of homes with low Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) ratings. He pointed out the company's strong customer reputation and national presence, which position it well for larger projects.
Stephen Edwards, co-managing partner at Soho Square, reiterated the firm's commitment to supporting ambitious founders in the UK and Europe. He emphasized that their tailored financing solutions enable LMF's founding team to retain control while securing necessary capital and support.
The deal was facilitated by a team from Soho Square, including Edwards, Tebbutt, Howard Chan, and Mark Bourke. Soho Square received advisory support from Grant Thornton for corporate finance and tax due diligence, Hogan Lovells for legal matters, Baringa for commercial due diligence, and Sustainable Advantage for ESG due diligence. LMF was advised by Graph Strategy, EY, and O’Connors.
This investment marks a significant step for LMF Energy Services as it aims to expand its impact in the renewable energy sector and contribute to the UK's energy efficiency goals.
