iomart Group has announced its acquisition of Atech, a Microsoft Solutions firm based in Marlow, for £57 million. The deal will be financed through existing cash and banking facilities. Atech is part of Kookaburra Topco Ltd, where Pelican Capital holds a 54% stake, with the original founders owning about 30%. The remaining shares are held by the management team, who will continue with the business post-acquisition.
This acquisition is deemed "game-changing" by iomart, as it will enhance the range of Microsoft services offered, including Azure, private cloud, and hybrid solutions. The focus will be on mid-sized enterprises, leveraging Atech’s expertise in Azure Infrastructure, Security, Data & AI, Modern Work, and Digital and Application Innovation. Atech has earned recognition from Microsoft for its strong security reputation.
Ryan Langley, Atech’s CEO since 2021, will transition to the role of Chief Technology Officer for iomart, further strengthening the leadership team. The acquisition aligns with iomart's "Bigger, Better, Bolder" strategy, initiated by CEO Dimes, marking a significant milestone for the company.
In a trading update released alongside the acquisition announcement, iomart expects flat revenues for FY25. However, the Board believes that acquiring Atech will be transformational for the growth trajectory of the enlarged Group moving forward.
