2 August 2024
The Irish Times
Irish technology consultancy Storm Technology has been acquired by British cyber security firm Littlefish. Founded in 2003, Littlefish operates from Nottingham and Sheffield and employs around 700 people. The acquisition, backed by private equity group Bowmark Capital, aims to expand Littlefish's portfolio and explore further investment opportunities in Ireland.

Littlefish views this acquisition as a strategic move to tap into new potential within the British and Irish markets. The company aims to meet the increasing demand for business-focused Microsoft solutions while broadening its customer base. CEO Steve Robinson emphasized that this partnership will enhance their Microsoft business solution capabilities and strengthen their market presence.

Storm Technology, established in 1995, has positioned itself as a leading Microsoft business technology consultancy in Ireland, employing approximately 160 people. The acquisition is expected to facilitate Storm's entry into the UK market. In its latest financial results for 2022, Storm reported a profit before tax of €865,149, recovering from a loss the previous year, with a turnover of €16.5 million.

Littlefish specializes in managed IT services, cyber security, cloud services, and strategic consultancy. The acquisition is anticipated to bolster Storm's service offerings for both new and existing customers, particularly in managed IT services and cyber security, which are seen as key growth areas.

Roisin McLaughlin, marketing director at Storm Technology, noted that the partnership will enable both companies to undertake larger-scale projects and serve a broader range of clients. Together, they aim to deliver industry-leading services in managed IT services, cloud services, and strategic consultancy.

This acquisition marks a significant step for both companies as they seek to enhance their capabilities and address the evolving needs of their customers in the technology landscape.
