Canadian pension fund OMERS has appointed Alexander Fraser as its new head of private equity. Fraser brings extensive experience, having spent 16 years at GI Partners and later becoming a partner at Bridgepoint, where he established its San Francisco office and co-led technology investments.
Most recently, Fraser was a founding partner at 65 Equity Partners, a global private equity initiative backed by the sovereign investor Temasek. He takes over from Michael Graham, who retired earlier this year after over two decades with OMERS.
In his new role, Fraser will oversee OMERS' global private equity operations, which manage approximately C$27.5 billion in assets. OMERS Chief Investment Officer Ralph Berg praised Fraser as a growth-oriented leader with a proven track record in building successful teams and businesses.
Berg expressed confidence in Fraser's ability to navigate the current investment landscape, which presents new opportunities for growth. Under Fraser's leadership, OMERS aims to strengthen its private equity business further.
