Power Grid Components, Inc. (PGC), a company backed by Blackstone, has acquired Vizimax Inc., a provider of innovative electric power solutions. The acquisition, which closed last month, involved no disclosed financial terms. Following the deal, Vizimax will continue its operations in Alberta.
Founded in Longueuil, Quebec, Vizimax specializes in solutions for electric power systems, particularly known for its controlled switching device that optimizes inrush currents, enhancing the lifespan of critical equipment like transformers and circuit breakers. Jean-Guy Lacombe, the President of Vizimax, expressed enthusiasm about joining PGC, viewing the partnership as a significant step towards improving grid reliability and expanding their U.S. market presence.
Rick McClure, founder and CEO of PGC, emphasized the alignment of values between the two companies, highlighting the exceptional talent and innovative products Vizimax brings to the PGC portfolio. This acquisition is expected to enhance PGC's reach both in North America and internationally, as Vizimax serves diverse global markets.
PGC was established in 2017 by McClure and Shorehill Capital to acquire companies that provide high-quality products for the North American electric power grid. Since its inception, PGC has successfully acquired six businesses. In December 2023, Blackstone Energy Transition Partners, in collaboration with McClure, acquired PGC from Shorehill Capital.
Vizimax, founded in 1988, has established itself as a leader in addressing challenges related to electrical grid switching, measuring, and controlling. Blackstone Energy Transition Partners is recognized as a leading energy investor, having invested approximately $22 billion globally across various energy sectors.
This acquisition marks a strategic move for both PGC and Vizimax, aiming to leverage their combined strengths to enhance service delivery and expand market opportunities in the energy sector.
