Dawn Brooks has transitioned to consultancy firm Wood Mackenzie after a three-year tenure at Anglo American's Corporate Venture Capital (CVC) arm, Decarbonisation Ventures. Brooks, who joined Anglo American in 2018 as a platinum group metals specialist, moved to Decarbonisation Ventures in 2021.
During her time at Decarbonisation Ventures, Anglo American made significant investments in the decarbonisation sector. These included a $21.5 million Series A funding round for Applied Carbon, a US startup focused on biochar technology for carbon sequestration, and a $5.9 million seed funding round for Marathon Fusion, a US company developing fuel processing technology for the nuclear fusion industry.
Brooks also served as a non-executive director at Nanomox, a UK-based sustainable materials startup, following a seed funding round co-led by Anglo American in February 2023. The financial details of this deal were not disclosed.
In her new role at Wood Mackenzie, Brooks will serve as a principal analyst for copper demand. Wood Mackenzie is a UK consultancy firm specializing in the energy, chemicals, and mining industries.
