LDC Acquires Power Saving Solutions for Battery Storage Investment

LDC, a private equity investor affiliated with Lloyds Banking Group, has invested in Power Saving Solutions, a Mansfield-based company specializing in battery storage and hybrid power systems. This investment aims to bolster Power Saving Solutions' organic growth strategy as demand for clean energy solutions rises across various sectors, including construction and transport.

Power Saving Solutions offers high-performance battery storage units, known as Hussh Pods, which integrate with multiple power sources such as diesel generators and renewable energy. This hybrid approach enhances site efficiency, reduces emissions, and lowers fuel and maintenance costs. The company has reported a 34% revenue increase for the year ending December 31, 2023, and has expanded its workforce to support manufacturing and research and development efforts.

LDC's investment will support the management team, led by CEO Andy Richardson, in solidifying the company's position in the expanding battery storage market. The investment team from LDC, including Partner David Bains and Investment Manager Nicole Wong, will join Power Saving Solutions' board as Non-Executive Directors. Additionally, Gary Jacobson, with over 20 years of industry experience, will serve as Non-Executive Chairman, while Mike Marrison will also join as a Non-Executive Director.

Richardson expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with LDC, highlighting their commitment to net-zero initiatives and the potential for growth in response to increasing demand for clean energy products. Bains emphasized the critical role of battery storage in the UK's decarbonization efforts by 2035 and praised Power Saving Solutions for its market leadership.

LDC received advisory support from various firms, including Gateley for legal matters and Grant Thornton for corporate finance. Power Saving Solutions was advised by FRP Corporate Finance and Jamieson Alexander.

This investment marks a significant step for both LDC and Power Saving Solutions as they aim to capitalize on the growing market for sustainable energy solutions.
