Global investment firm Permira, through its Permira Growth Opportunities II Fund, has announced its intention to acquire a minority stake in the French outerwear brand K-Way. While the exact percentage of the stake has not been disclosed, reports suggest it is approximately 40%. The remaining 60% will continue to be owned by BasicNet, led by the Boglione family.

K-Way is renowned for its innovative waterproof packable jacket, the “Claude,” and offers a range of windbreakers, lifestyle fashion, and sportswear products. Since BasicNet took over in 2015, K-Way has undergone significant improvements in retail presence, customer experience, and product quality.

The partnership aims to bolster K-Way’s growth strategy, which focuses on enhancing brand leadership in France and Italy, opening new stores, expanding product lines, and exploring international markets. Permira’s consumer team has a strong track record, having invested over €15 billion in more than 40 companies globally, including notable brands like Golden Goose and Dr Martens.

Sebastien Floch, head of Permira France, expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with the Boglione family and K-Way, highlighting the brand's unique value and appeal. He emphasized that K-Way embodies the qualities that Permira seeks to support: a strong heritage, iconic products, and broad customer appeal. The firm looks forward to leveraging its resources to aid K-Way's ongoing success and global expansion.

The acquisition is anticipated to finalize in the first quarter of 2025. The transaction was supported by legal counsel from Giliberti Triscornia e Associati, financial advice from EY, fiscal guidance from Maisto e Associati, and commercial insights from Bain & Company.
