Hellman & Friedman Acquires Mehiläinen, Finland's Largest Healthcare Provider

Kirkland & Ellis is providing legal counsel to Hellman & Friedman (H&F) on its investment in Mehiläinen, Finland's largest healthcare and social care provider. This investment is being made in partnership with CVC. Concurrently, Mehiläinen plans to acquire two prominent healthcare providers: Regina Maria in Romania and MediGroup in Serbia.

The completion of these acquisitions and the new ownership structure for Mehiläinen will depend on regulatory approvals and customary investor conditions.

The Kirkland team involved in this transaction includes a diverse group of corporate, debt finance, tax, antitrust, and technology lawyers. Key members of the corporate team are Keir MacLennan, David Higgins, Jeremy Wilkins, Jiri Peterka, Melissa Sawyer, Nikhil Mohindra, Oliver Weighill, and Edward Mort.

In addition, Kirsteen Nicol and Emma Shi are handling debt finance matters, while tax-related issues are managed by Peter Abbott, Hugo Coleman, and Alexandria Solomou. The antitrust and competition aspects are overseen by Thomas Wilson, Samantha Jones, James Donald, and Loukia Kopitsa. Lastly, technology and intellectual property transactions are being addressed by Emma Flett, Ben Zeris, and Shareen Dhillon.
